Size guide: how to choose your frame
At Cool Gafas, every frame is one-size-fits-all, designed to adapt to most Colombian faces. Even so, choosing the right model makes the difference between a frame you love to wear every day and one that stays forgotten in a drawer. Here we explain how to get it right.
1. Find your current size
If you already have a pair of frames, look at the inside of the temple arm: you will see three numbers, for example, 52 18 140.
- 52: width of each lens in millimeters.
- 18: bridge width (the part that rests on your nose).
- 140: total length of the temple arm, from the hinge to the tip.
For reference, our frames have lens widths between approximately 48 and 54 mm, a range that covers small, medium, and large faces. If your current frame is far outside that range (for example, less than 46 mm or greater than 56 mm), write to us on WhatsApp before buying so we can advise you.
2. Don't have a frame on hand? Measure your face
With a ruler or tape measure, in front of a mirror:
- Face width: measure from temple to temple, at the widest part (just above the ears).
- Small face: less than 12.5 cm.
- Medium face: between 12.5 and 14.5 cm.
- Large face: more than 14.5 cm.
Most of our models are designed for medium faces; if yours is noticeably small or large, prioritize models described as "thin" or "lightweight" (small face) or "oversized" / "generous" (large face) in the product description.
3. Choose the shape according to your face type
The general rule: look for contrast. A frame with a shape different from your face softens your features; a frame with the same shape accentuates them.
- Round face (soft cheeks and chin, similar width and height): you are favored by square or rectangular frames with more defined lines. Try models like Uno, Voyager, Fez, or Cantaleta.
- Square face (strong jawline, broad forehead): you are favored by round or oval frames, which soften the angles. Try Candelaria, Maradi, Gusetia, or Soar.
- Oval face (balanced proportions): it is the most versatile shape, almost any frame looks good on you. Take the opportunity to stand out with geometric or cat-eye shapes like Brave, Untamed, or Pyna.
- Heart-shaped face (broad forehead, narrow chin): look for round or oval frames without a heavy brow line, which don't add width to the top. Try Maradi or Gusetia.
- Elongated face (longer than it is wide): look for frames with more height and presence, and avoid very small or narrow frames. Try Limitless or Voyager.
4. If in doubt, don't guess
Write to us on WhatsApp with a front-facing photo (no glasses, hair pulled back) and we will help you choose the model that fits you best before you buy. This way, we avoid unnecessary exchanges and returns.
5. About prescription lenses
The size of the frame does not affect compatibility with your prescription: all our prescription-ready frames are compatible with single-vision and progressive lenses, within standard optical ranges. If your prescription is very high (severe myopia or astigmatism), we recommend medium to small size frames for a more aesthetic lens thickness — mention this to your trusted optician when having your lenses cut.
